Spiritual Fitness Plan

The Spiritual Fitness Plan

Grow in the Word. Stand firm in the faith.

Life has a way of pulling your attention in a hundred different directions. It doesn’t take long before time in God’s Word gets pushed aside. But Scripture is not optional for the believer. It is how we know God, understand His will, and learn to walk in obedience.

The call is simple:
Open the Word. Read it. Meditate on it. Obey it.

Joshua 1:8 (ESV)
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.”

How to Train in God's Word

Just as the body grows stronger through consistent training, your faith is strengthened through steady time in the Word.

  • Read with consistency
  • Reflect with intention
  • Obey with conviction

Over time, what feels difficult becomes a steady and life-giving rhythm.

“Train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way…”
1 Timothy 4:7–8 (ESV)

READ:

Commit to Daily Bible Reading

2 Timothy 3:16-17 ~ “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Choose the reading plan that best fits your pace and lifestyle, whether you want to read the New Testament in a year or the whole Bible.

  • New Testament in 1 Year: 1 chapter per day, 5 days a week
  • New Testament in 4 Months: 3 chapters per day, 5 days a week
  • Old Testament in 2 Years: 2 chapters per day, 5 days a week

You can download your plan below or pick up a printed copy at church.

Memorize:

Keep Scripture in Mind

Psalm 119:11 ~ “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

Commit to memorizing one verse each week. Use these strategies to help you succeed in memorization:

  • Read the verse out loud 10 times a day
  • Wear scripture memory wristbands
  • Write the verse on a notecard and keep it with you
  • Set the verse as your phone lock screen for daily reminders

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Join a Small Group

Proverbs 27:17 ~ “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Following Christ is strengthened in community. Small groups provide a regular setting to gather with others, open God’s Word, pray, encourage one another. These rhythms help keep us grounded and moving forward in our walk with Christ.

Pray:

Give Your Cares to God

1 Peter 5:7 ~ “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

In a world full of distractions, we must fill our minds with truth. We provide curated resources to help you grow in your knowledge and understanding of God’s Word.

Meditate:

Internalize Your Reading

Psalm 1:1-2 ~ “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked, or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.”

Prayer is the place where we bring our worries and cares to God. Set aside regular moments to talk with Him openly—adoring Him, giving thanks for His goodness, bringing your needs and burdens, and praying for others in your life. In prayer, we learn to depend on Him and trust Him with every part of our lives.

Obey:

Put Your Reading into Practice

Luke 11:28 ~ “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

Slow down in God’s Word and ask Him to teach you through it. As you read, pay attention to what stands out, what it reveals about God, and how it calls you to respond in faith and obedience. You can do this through journaling, prayerful reflection, or quiet time as you think carefully about the text.

Weekly Spiritual Workout

To keep you on track, we’ve provided weekly check-in questions that will help you reflect on your progress and keep you accountable:

  • Spiritual Disciplines: Did you complete your Bible reading and memorization this week?
  • Sin & Temptation: What sin or temptation do you need to bring into the light?
  • Celebration & Stress: What joy can we celebrate? What stress do you need help carrying?
  • Goals: What sin do you want to overcome or which area of godliness do you want to grow?
