Frequently Asked Questions
At what age can my child participate in VBS?
Ankeny Baptist Church VBS is available for children entering kindergarten through 6th grade in the fall of 2023.
In which class should I register my child?
Register your child with the grade they are just finishing, but select the class for the grade they will enter in the fall. Example: Mary is currently in 3rd grade. She is registered as a 3rd grader in the Junior Girls Class (4th–6th grade).
If my child invites a friend, can they be in the same class?
When their friend registers, they may enter your child’s name as the person who invited them in the designated section.
Can I register my child on the first day of VBS?
We strongly encourage advance online registration. However, walk-in registration is accepted based on availability.
Am I able to cancel my child’s registration?
If your plans have changed and your child is unable to attend VBS, you can go back into your registration via the link in the confirmation email and cancel.
What does child drop-off/pick-up look like?
ALL children must be checked in and picked up by a parent/guardian. Each morning, a parent/guardian must bring the child into the building to check them in. The parent/guardian will receive a parent code that will be needed to pick up the child at the end of each day.
Do you serve food during the week of VBS?
Each day the kids will receive a snack. Our kitchen staff pays close attention to any allergies that are listed at registration and will prepare an allergy-free snack for those children. If your child has an allergy and you would like to send a prepared snack for them, you are welcome to do so.
What does a day at ABC VBS look like?
Vacation Bible School at Ankeny Baptist Church is a morning filled with Bible stories, games, snacks, crafts/science experiments, missionary stories, songs, and a whole lot of fun. This year, we are taking the kids to the time of kings and knights and will be learning to put on the armor of God.
What does my child need to bring to VBS?
Your child is not required to bring anything. However, 2nd–6th graders will receive points for bringing a Bible and saying memory verses. We also have a competition between the boys and the girls to bring in the most offering for our missionaries of the week.
We can’t wait to see you at VBS!
